  • Dr. Amy Stockton

Dr. Stockton grew up in Riverton with her dogs, cats, rabbits, lambs and horses.  She loved galloping bareback along the edges of the fields with her shoes off and toes touching the alfalfa, or riding the horses to town to order Big Macs from the "ride through" at McDonalds.  She remembers times in those days when she needed help for a sick or injured pet and she couldn't get a veterinarian to answer the phone, and by the age of eight had vowed that she would become a veterinarian and "never allow that to happen to anyone else EVER AGAIN!"

So she dug her heels in and worked hard through school, and attained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 1996, worked a year at Mesa Vista Vet Hospital in Raton, New Mexico, then returned home to start her practice in Riverton.  She brought the 1st ultrasound diagnostics to Fremont County and started with her Mobile Clinic and house calls until she constructed the clinic on Riverview Road in 2001.  The Stock Doc has been on call all the time since then.

Dr. Amy loves her team and clients like family, and understands the strength of bonds that can form with our pets.  She respects that bond immensely, and vows to do all she can to enhance, strengthen and lengthen it.  Amy lives close to the clinic and it is her dream to have a zip line to the clinic on day so she can make it to the door in less than a minute :)

In the winter, you will find her at the rink cheering for the Riverton River Rats.  It's easy to see her there, because she yells encouragement so loudly that no one will sit in front of her.  In the Spring, she is cleaning up her yard, planting flowers and vegetables and cheering her younger son on in soccer.  Summertime finds her on horseback or on the paddle boards with her husband and teenage sons.  In the Fall, she heads indoors to assist the Riverton Animal Adoption Center with the Paws and Pearls Wine Tasting. She also gets most of her quilting and reading done in the Fall and Winter.

For a good conversation, tell her about how your pet got its name, or discuss a book you read, or tell her about a great travel destination.  She can't talk NHL, because her team is the River Rats, but she can quote stats on high school hockey (and maybe Denver University in the future!)  If you want to make her day, tell her a good brand of lip chap or a good kind of chocolate!!

  • Barbara Martin

Barbara Martin was born and raised in the heart of the horse capitol of the world, Central Kentucky. From a very young age she had interests in animals, especially equids. Riding lessons were a big part of Barbara’s pre-teen life, but as she got into high school, sports and extracurricular activities took away time from riding. Co-ed soccer, church group, playing clarinet in marching band and oboe in concert band, a capella select choir and FFA filled her schedule. She also enjoyed shadowing and ride-alongs with some of the top veterinarians in the state. She attended Western Kentucky University and graduated in 2007 with her Bachelors in Animal Science with emphasis in Equine Studies. While attending college, Barbara was selected for the Western Kentucky University Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (ICHSA) Stock Seat Team all four years. She was Secretary 2005-2006 and Treasurer 2006-2007.

In 2006, Barbara got her first horse, a 2002 registered gray Quarter Horse. She named her Graycie, and they have been on thousands of adventures together. Barbara acquired her second equid as her college graduation gift from her mother. A beautiful bay saddle mule named Maggie joined Barbara’s small herd.

After graduation, Barbara had the opportunity to work in Wyoming for some close friends of the family. She had often visited and worked on this family’s ranch over summer breaks during high school and college. She loved putting in a day’s ride up the mountain to check the cattle and playing with the young horses on the ranch. Wyoming had grabbed her heart at an early age and kept a good grip on it while she was growing up. Arriving to Riverton, WY, in January of 2008 with Graycie and Maggie in tow, they quickly became familiar with the Wyoming winters. It did not detour her from making her dreams come true. She met her true love in the summer of 2009, and they had a big western wedding, including an outdoor ceremony, a chuck wagon dinner and an old-fashioned barn dance. Barbara and her husband, Josh, live on a small ranch near Pavillion, where they built their home in 2012. Barbara’s passion for critters can be seen by their flock of laying hens, the ducks, dairy goats, four head of Quarter Horses, three dogs and cats, two miniature horses, the mule, and their small--but growing--heard of cattle. Josh and Barbara enjoy getting away and hauling the equids to go camping, fishing and hunting. They also take pleasure in hiking, prospecting, gem hunting, and getting to spend time together.

She loves working with cattle (and all animals in general), ranching, fishing, being outdoors and riding and training her horses. She hopes to someday get her Bachelors in Equine Nutrition and Livestock Management someday and has started raising Quarter Horses with her husband Chance. She loves working and being around animals and will do anything she can to help.
